This level 2  qualification will provide you with the mandatory unit - Principles of the Safe Use and Application of Pesticides - needed before doing any of our other pesticide qualifications.

Who should attend?

Our qualification is suitable for those entering work, those who have established themselves in a role and those working at technician/supervisory/management levels. What will be covered? This qualification will give you the opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge of the safe use and application of pesticides. Our course will also assess your knowledge and understanding of:

  • The regulations regarding safe use of pesticides

  •  Pesticide product information

  •  Hazards and risks associated with pesticides

  •  Personal safety when using pesticides

  •  The measures to deal with pesticide poisoning

  • Safe working practices

  • The requirements for protected areas

  • Environmental risks and protection of wildlife

  •  How to deal with incidents

  •  Factors to consider when using pesticides

Boom Sprayers (PA2a)

​Our Level qualification is available for learners aged 16+

You'll develop knowledge, understanding and skills in the safe use and application of pesticides using vehicle-mounted boom sprayer equipment. It's perfect for anyone new to the job. It's also designed for people who have already established themselves in a pesticide-based role, or anyone working at technician/supervisory/management levels. You'll already have worked on one of the certificate's mandatory unit - Principles of the Safe Use and Application of Pesticides

The qualification will assess your knowledge, understanding and competence in:

  •  The regulations regarding safe use of pesticides

  •  Pesticide product information

  • Personal safety when using relevant equipment

  • The measures to deal with pesticide poisoning ï‚· Safe working practices

  • The requirements for protected areas

  • Environmental risks and protection of wildlife

  • How to deal with incidents

  • Factors to consider when using pesticides with vehicle-mounted boom sprayer equipment.

Hand Held Applicators (PA6a) or PA6aw

This Level 2  qualification is available for learners aged 16+. You'll develop knowledge, understanding and skills in the safe use and application of pesticides using hand-held equipment. It's perfect for anyone new to the job.

It's also designed for people who have already established themselves in a pesticide-based role, or anyone working at technician/supervisory/management levels.

1 days Training with a 2 hour assessment on a separate day

Rodent Management

Following changes to the CRRU UK Code of Best Practice, training is no longer acceptable evidence of competence for the purchase of professional rodenticide. Since 1st January 2026 you must produce a certificate of competence to purchase these professional products.

People who wish to gain proof of competence will now need to pass a regulated qualification such as the Lantra Awards Level 2 Award in Rodent Management. This 

qualification is supported by a non-assessed training course in Rodent Management.

 

The finer details

This qualification is designed to be delivered alongside the Lantra Awards Rodent Management training course.

Upon completion you will receive an Ofqual accredited certificate.

This assessment can be delivered in three ways: by hard copy examination question paper, by online assessment, or remotely by online proctored assessment. This is the hard copy examination question paper version of the assessment.
